Rani was Mercer Boatwork's 2nd 44. She was initially owned by Roy Elliot (pictured on the right) who built her custom doghouse and interior. She was recently donated to the Richmond Yacht club and was for sale in April 2006. The price listed was US$50,000. I think she has been purchased on hope that we can get more details about her soon.
In searching for a Roy Elliot, I think I came across mention of his death in March of 2002 in a University of California, Hayward publication. It describes Dr. Elliot as teaching in the business and economics from 1962 through 1992.
The for sale ad lists her as being build in 1963 but it's probably 1960 or 1961. She's got a Perkins 4-107 4-cylinder diesel with aluminum mast and boom. The ad says that her wooden house and the interior were designed by her owner and built "here on the west coast".
