I have recently heard from the new owners of the Synia. Chuck Hogan bought Cape Cod Shipbuilding's 6th Mercer from Charles G. Crothers who had her commissioned in 1978. She is now in Green Cove Springs, on the St. Johns River in Florida.
Chuck knows a lot about her history and has mentioned that she's been to Greenland, Iceland, Anartcia, and has done multiple trans-Atlantic crossings, etc.. He was due to complete a one year refit in January 2006 and hoped to launch in early Spring 2007. This has turned into a 2 year refit and he is hoping to launch her this September.
